How to Play Athenium: Summon, Strategize, and Conquer

Step into the world of Athenium, where powerful Librarians summon creatures from the fantastical realm of Fantasia to do battle. The goal is simple: reduce your opponent’s life points to zero and be the last Librarian standing!

Game Setup:

• Life Points: Each player starts with 15 life points.

• Character Deck: Place the character deck face down in the center. Shuffle the Macguffin cards and arrange them in three stacks face up.

• Starting Hand: Draw 5 character cards and begin your strategic journey.

Gameplay Overview:

Athenium is a turn-based battle game where players use Macguffins to summon characters and attack their opponents. Here’s how it unfolds:

1. Resource Chapter: Discard cards, draw new ones to refill your hand, and choose a Macguffin card to play. These Macguffins are crucial for summoning creatures to your side.

2. Summoning Chapter: Use Macguffins to summon characters based on their color and the number of Macguffins required. Characters can be summoned in any order, and you can even sacrifice characters to generate temporary energy to summon more.

3. Attack Chapter: Once you’ve summoned your creatures, it’s time to attack! Characters attack in order, and the defending player can choose to block or take damage. The outcome of the battle depends on strengths and weaknesses, and characters’ numbers are adjusted accordingly. Survive the attack, and you move on to the next round.

4. Defending and Combat: If a character survives an attack, the next character in line must engage in battle. Players must be strategic, as once characters are defeated, they are discarded, and damage is dealt to life points.

Game End:

The game ends when only one player remains with life points, making them the ultimate Librarian and victor of Athenium.
